I was inspired to create this brochure piece after reading an article about how a number of Planned Parenthoods were closed down due to lack of funding. Many young Black women depended on Planned Parenthood for reproductive health related issues and for information. There are diseases that effect Black women more than any other race, but very few institutions designed to cater to their specific needs. The Black Women’s Health Initiative is a Washington D.C. based organization that focuses primary on Black Women medical needs, providing information, having support groups, and creating a supportive community.
The brochure was created as part of a series, where several brochures would be dedicated to different diseases. Each brochure will have a different color scheme and face on the cover to differentiate from each topic. The ones you see displayed here are for PCOS and heart disease.
